Sharnita Gates

Founder of #HealAtlanta and 4B (BBBB)

Sharnita Gates' story began off Exit 4B on Campbellton Road in Atlanta, Georgia, where community, faith, advocacy, and service were woven into everyday life. Growing up, she was surrounded by organizations, churches, ministries, recreational centers, and community leaders working to create healthier neighborhoods and stronger families.

Raised by an entrepreneurial father and a healthcare-focused mother, Sharnita learned early that change is not something to wait for—it is something to participate in. The values of responsibility, service, stewardship, and advocacy were planted into her life long before she fully understood their significance.

As a child and young adult, she participated in initiatives promoting healthier communities and stronger futures. Whether marching for Drug-Free Atlanta, supporting health awareness campaigns, participating in programs like Jump Rope for Heart, or simply observing the challenges facing everyday people, she developed a growing awareness that communities thrive when people are equipped with truth, support, and opportunity.

During her travels and personal development journey, she often found inspiration in the message of the song "Hold On, Change Is Comin'" by the group Sounds of Blackness. Combined with a lifelong love of reading and learning, these experiences helped shape her belief that transformation begins with renewing the mind and developing the character necessary to sustain change.

Over time, Sharnita experienced situations involving conflict, mistreatment, abuse, misunderstanding, and systems that appeared disconnected from the people they were meant to serve. These experiences led her to seek answers beyond surface-level solutions. Through personal growth, anger management training, leadership development, business experiences, advocacy work, and extensive observation, she began asking deeper questions:

Why do unhealthy patterns continue repeating themselves?

Why do good people become trapped in unhealthy environments?

Why do systems designed to help sometimes produce harm?

Why do contributors become consumers, assets become liabilities, and blessings become barriers?

Her search for answers revealed that many problems cannot be solved solely through policies, regulations, human resources departments, or compliance programs. Beneath many societal challenges are belief systems, incentives, and cultural patterns that shape behavior.

These influences can be found across many sectors of society:

• Politics
• Education
• Healthcare
• Business and Employment
• Media and Entertainment
• Technology and Social Media
• Housing and Real Estate
• Criminal Justice Systems
• Financial Systems
• Religious Institutions
• Community Organizations
• Family Systems
• Consumer Culture

Sharnita came to believe that whenever any system becomes disconnected from truth, stewardship, accountability, human dignity, and the principles taught by Christ, people often suffer the consequences.

Rather than surrendering her future to broken systems, she made a personal decision: God would remain her ultimate authority, and she would take responsibility for stewarding the life entrusted to her.

From that conviction, #HealAtlanta was born.

#HealAtlanta exists to expose what is harming people, heal what has been wounded, and help individuals, families, organizations, and communities build healthier foundations.

To support this mission, Sharnita created 4B, also known as BBBB:

Belief. Balance. Behavior. Business.

The framework was inspired by Romans 12:2:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Through the 4B framework, people are encouraged to examine:

Belief — What am I believing?
Balance — What is governing my life?
Behavior — What fruit are my beliefs producing?
Business — What systems am I building, supporting, or participating in?

The goal is not simply to expose problems.

The goal is transformation.

To move from confusion to clarity.

From reaction to wisdom.

From survival to stewardship.

From conformity to renewal.

From woundedness to healing.

And ultimately, from the systems of this world toward a life increasingly governed by truth, purpose, responsibility, and the ways of Christ.
